From Humble Beginnings to Big Dreams

Welcome to the Wonky Pheasant journey - a tale of passion, perseverance, and a growing love for creating unique, handcrafted items. What started as a small idea has turned into something incredibly special, and we are so glad you have joined us on this adventure. Here is a glimpse into how Wonky Pheasant came to be, and how each step of the way has helped shape our business into what it is today.

The First Step: Hingham Craft Fair

Wonky Pheasant made its first appearance at the Hingham Craft Fair. It wasn’t an extravagant debut just me and my auntie sharing half of a 6ft table, but it was the beginning of something amazing. To be honest, I had no idea what to expect. It was my first-ever craft fair, and I was just dipping my toes into the world of selling handmade goods.

The day was full of surprises: I received so many kind compliments and sold a few items, but most importantly, I learned a lot. The experience was a valuable one, and I returned to Hingham a few more times, each time gaining more confidence and learning what works and what didn’t. Each fair was a mix of highs and lows, but all part of the process. It was during these early events that I began to see the potential of Wonky Pheasant.

A Christmas to Remember at Sindermill

One of my favourite memories from our journey was the Sindermill Christmas Opening. Picture this: the air was filled with the sounds of carol singing, mulled wine was flowing, and despite the freezing temperatures, the night was filled with holiday cheer.
This event also marked the debut of something extra special, our feathered baubles. It was our first Christmas offering, and the response was amazing. It’s moments like these that remind me how much joy our creations bring to others.

The First Outside Pitch (And the Great Gazebo Challenge!)

After a few successful indoor events, I decided it was time to take on my first outdoor pitch. This took place at a lovely horse show up at Sandringham, and let me tell you it was quite the experience! Setting up our gazebo was no small task. My partner and I spent a solid hour figuring out how it all went together, and let’s just say it wasn’t t the smoothest process. But once we got it up, we were good to go! The day turned out beautifully, and we met so many wonderful customers. It was a true learning experience, and it gave me the confidence to keep pushing forward.

The Norfolk Show: A Big Leap

Fast forward to our first stand at the Norfolk Show. I was both excited and nervous this was a major step! We were in one of the craft tents for both days, and while it was a learning curve, it was also an incredible opportunity. There was a steady flow of people all day, and although some parts of the day were busier than others, it was amazing to meet so many different people and hear their stories. Every conversation added a new layer of understanding to what we do at Wonky Pheasant, and it made me even more passionate about sharing our creations with the world.

Norfolk Show 2024: Taking It to the Next Level

In 2024, we returned to the Norfolk Show with a lot of lessons learned from the year before. I decided to take a risk this time and we moved our stand outside of the craft tent and in its own space so it meant I needed to invested in some signs to help our little business stand out from the crowd. The goal was to be bold, to show off all that Wonky Pheasant had to offer however It didn’t go exactly as planned, but thats okay. The challenges and obstacles are all part of the journey. Every event, every setback, and every win has helped me grow stronger as a small business owner. And its the lessons from these experiences that will help me continue to grow and improve in the years to come.

What is next ?

Looking back at how far we’ve come is truly humbling. Each craft fair, market, and show has shaped Wonky Pheasant into something even more beautiful than I could have imagined. We’ve learned so much about ourselves, our products, and the amazing customers who support us every step of the way. As we move forward, I am excited for what is to come. There will be more lessons, more events, and more chances to connect with all of you.

Thank you for being part of our journey. Heres to many more adventures, more beautiful creations, and more memories made along the way!

Stay tuned there is so much more to come.

We hope you enjoyed reading about the journey of Wonky Pheasant. If you’ve been a part of our story, whether by visiting our stand, buying one of our products, or simply supporting us from afar, we are so grateful for your support.
