Bespoke commissions

A bespoke commission is where I work with you to create something completely unique and meaningful. I offer two types of personalisation. The first is fully bespoke artwork, where I use a collection of your photographs from a special moment and work closely with you to create a one-of-a-kind piece that’s truly sentimental to you. The second option is personalising one of my existing silhouettes by adding names, dates, initials, or a small amount of text above or below the design.

How It Works

Step One

Share Your Idea

Start by choosing the style of personalisation that suits you best. For a fully bespoke artwork, I work from your photographs to capture a meaningful moment or memory, creating a one-of-a-kind piece that reflects your story. Alternatively, you can choose to personalise one of my existing silhouettes from my current catalogue of designs. With both options, you’re welcome to add names, dates, initials, or a short line of text to make the piece uniquely yours.

Once you have an idea in mind, simply fill out the contact form below to get the conversation started. This is a relaxed, no-obligation way for us to explore ideas, understand the sentiment behind your piece, and see if a bespoke commission feels right for you.

Step Two

Design & Approval

Once we’ve discussed your ideas, I’ll begin creating your design. For fully bespoke pieces, this involves working directly from your photographs to capture the sentiment, story, and details that mean the most to you. Clear, well-lit photographs with the subject in focus tend to work best, but don’t worry if you’re unsure — you’re welcome to send a few and I’ll guide you on which will translate beautifully into artwork.

Because silhouettes rely on very clear outlines and poses, there may be occasions where a particular photograph isn’t suitable for that style. To avoid any disappointment later, I’ll always let you know in advance and advise an alternative option if needed, whether that’s choosing a different photo or exploring another approach.

You’ll then have the opportunity to review a draft and request small adjustments before giving your final approval. I want you to feel confident and excited about your piece before it’s handcrafted.

For personalised silhouettes, you’ll receive a draft of your chosen design from my catalogue with your personalisation included, and you’ll again have the opportunity to request adjustments before final approval.

Step Three

Creation & Delivery

Once your design has been approved, a payment request will be sent via email. Payment is required before I begin handcrafting your artwork, which ensures your commission is secure and allows me to focus entirely on creating your piece. Please note that all bespoke and personalised commissions are non-refundable, as each piece is made uniquely for you.

Once payment is received, your bespoke artwork or personalised silhouette will be carefully crafted. From feathers and tweed to cartridge cases and finer details, each element is hand-finished to create a piece that’s made to be treasured. Commissions typically take 7–10 days to complete from the date payment is received.

Before your piece is posted, I’ll send you an image of the finished artwork so you can see exactly what you’ll be receiving. Once approved, it will be carefully packaged and dispatched, arriving safely and ready to enjoy or gift. I’ll keep you updated throughout the process, and if your piece is for a special occasion, just let me know and I’ll make sure it’s dispatched in good time.

Lets have a chat.

Have an idea in mind? Let me know what you’re thinking. You might already have a photo (or a few) you’d like to use, or an idea of who the piece is for. If there are particular feathers you’d love included, I’m always happy to hear that too.

If you’d like to share any photos, you can email them over to me at wonkypheasant@gmail.com

There’s no obligation at this point. It’s just an informal chat to explore ideas and see if a bespoke piece is right for you.

FAQ

What’s the difference between fully bespoke and personalised artwork?

Fully bespoke artwork is created from scratch using your photographs to capture a special moment in a completely unique design. Personalised artwork is where names, dates, initials or a small amount of text are added to one of my existing silhouette designs.

Do I need to know exactly what I want?

Not at all. Many customers come with a rough idea or just a photo. I’ll guide you through options and help shape the final piece.

What kind of photos can I send?

Clear, well-lit photos work best, but they don’t need to be professional. I can work from a selection of photos to capture the details that matter most.

Can I choose specific feathers or materials?

Yes! If you have particular feathers or materials in mind, just let me know. I work with a selection of feathers, spent cartridges, tweed and pressed flowers to create each piece. Due to seasonal availability, there may occasionally be times when a specific feather isn’t in stock, although I always try to avoid this where possible and will discuss alternatives with you if needed.

How long do bespoke commissions take?

Times can vary depending on the piece and how busy I am, but I’ll always give you an estimated timeframe before we begin. Once payment has been received, I aim to have bespoke commissions completed within 7–10 days.

Will I see a design before it’s finished?

For fully bespoke artwork, I’ll work closely with you throughout the process to make sure the piece is turning out exactly how you want. I’ll provide a digital mock-up, and you can request as many changes as needed at this stage to get it just right. Once the final piece has been made and is ready to post, any further changes would incur a small additional charge, as the payment covers the time and care that goes into creating your one-of-a-kind artwork. Each personalised piece is unique and cannot be resold.

Are bespoke pieces suitable as gifts?

Yes! Bespoke artwork makes a truly meaningful gift and is often commissioned for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, memorials, or special keepsakes. For an additional £5, I can send your piece gift-wrapped with a custom feather card with a little note, addressed to your recipient.
